We're in Winnipeg now - at a eclectic hostel. Its hot here - but not as hot as it was yesterday at the Winnipeg
Folk Festival. I've always wanted to go - go on, make fun of me if you like. But it was way over our budget. So we dithered for a while and then were like - what the hell, we hit town the actual weekend of the folk festival. We have to go. And so we did. It cost a kind of crazy 90 bucks for a day ticket for an adult - but we did it. We don't really need to eat next week, right? But it was the festival thing full on. Lots of white folks with dreadlocks. Kids in face paint. Smiling people. Cool kids programming. And of course the music. Highlights of the day included an afternoon concert with the Be Good Tanyas, Dan Mangan and Shane Koyzcan - an amazing spoken word artist, a session with Lucy Wainwright Roche, a singer songwriter from Brooklyn, and then on the main stage a British group called Spiro. Sid got super cranky by the end, begging for treats. And Mac and I lost each other. But what is lost, can be found and we caught the 11 pm free shuttle back to Winnipeg.
Today was more chill. We've been staying at old OCAP friend Kellee's place, who lives with her partner/co-parent Chris and their kid Malachy. We dragged Chris and Malachy to the Canada Mint - took the kids to a splash pad, and then mac made a bbq at the hostel. They have other guests coming tomorrow, so we moved a few doors down. Tomorrow we'll actually start to see some of this fair town.

Not as hot as Toronto is right now, I'd wager!
